Will a #785 Coal Loader work w/ “O” gauge layouts

Do any of the “O” gauge train operators out there use an American Flyer #785 Coal Loader with the “O” gauge layouts?

The catalog shows this device with a piece of American Flyer track under it.
You can see the item in the catalog here, (scroll down the page a bit): http://www.lionel.com/Products/Catalogs/Catalog.cfm?CatalogID=4&PageID=275
Will regular Lionel 3 rail tubular track fit under the device? Also, is it tall enough to allow an “O” gauge train to pass under it?
Thanks!

The indentation where the track goes is right at 2 1/2" wide. The clearance from the bottom to the lowest hanging down point is 5 3/4". Deduct the height of the track and whatever roadbed. These measurements were from the original but I think the repos is the same.

I used the MTH version on my last layout, I had no problems with traditional equipment going under/through it.
