Our club was just given an American Flyer 4-8-4 , cab # 339AC.It is in good shape and runs. The tender frame (deck, floor) is broken up.Is this engine valuable.Should I repair or replace the tender,or just try to get what I can for it as is.We deal with Lionel. It was given to us to make something off of.Input would be appreciated.

I would be inclined to try and repair it because you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by doing so. You wont be devaluing anything since broken is useless and you wont be out of pocket, or shouldnt, by so doing.

My favorite material for fixing things is one (or more) of the many epoxy resins. Theres not much you can't fix with epoxy.
