Yes, they must have quite a bit of work backlog because my Protosound 2 conversion took about a month longer than expected. But it was a first-class job and I'm sure you will be happy with their repair on your Berk.

My Dad was at Davis Trains sometime ago and said the place is huge, and a very friendly staff.Sota sounds like the problem my youngest son had with his Lionel GP-38 .It started out good, then started to loose power.Crazy thing seems to be doing better, but nothing was done to it.I think you done the right thing sending your engine to Davis Laz [2c].

GIZ,
Got a call from Davis Electronics and Steve told me the motor was shorting out and was going to try and find the problem. There is a 7-10 week turn around period there thats how much work they have. Though YUZ GIZ would want to know?

I'd be interested to see how Davis does with your train, Laz. I contacted them last week about repairing my Lionel El Capitan FT deisel that has a F-N-R problem. They told me that a new board was needed and that the El Capitan has been a poor performer with a lot of them in need of the same fix. I'm just a little hesitant about shipping it through the mail.

Laz,
I just looked at this post. I was just in Davis Trains in Milford, OH last week. If anybody can fix it, they can fix it. Joe Davis, the owner has a photo of my layout on his bulletin board.as an example of one of his customer's layouts.

I have had only one repair done by them and it was done perfectly. Davis started out repairing TVs and Stereos a long time ago. They carry G, O, S, HO, N and Wooden Trains. I have told the Chief that when he gets to Cincinnati, where us Ohio boys will watch him like a hawk, his escorted trip will include the Davis Train Store so he can help the Ohio economy.[:D]

Laz - I don't believe Jim Barrett is with them since he is now part of the OGR mag. I do believe that they have a very good repair shop.

You're welcome Laz ! They are, or maybe, were, a K-line super store, & I asked them about a problem with a TMCC eng. & another MTH diesel that has TMCC in it & they said they could take care of it. I was really impressed on the phone with them. Hope you make out OK !

K-LINE Berkshire problem....again?
Posted by laz 57 on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 8:01 PM
HI GIZ,
Took the Bershire to the repair shop got it back still the same situation. It will not go faster at all now, I have lots of heat building up in the main gears that come come down from the can motor to the worm gear, to the drive gears. I can not pull anything with it. I tried calling K-line, no answer. Is there anywhere I can get this engine fixed or find replacement parts. I guess now that this has happened I won't go for the K-line blowouts.
