Looking for Info. 1955-1956 Lionel 2328 Burlington GP7 set
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 8:56 AM
Seeking any info on a Lionel train set I had as a boy in 1955.The set had a silver Burlington GP 7 (2328) Loco with several freight cars. I don't remember the specifics on the freight cars. The set was purchased in Boston Mass at Christmas 1955. I'm looking to replace the entire set.

Thanks,
Bob Stevens

The freight outfit from 1955 was number 1531W, and it consisted of the following rolling stock:

2328 Burlington GP-7 ($205/355)
6462 NYC gondola, red ($5/15)
6456 Lehigh Valley hopper (grey - $16/36)
6465 Sunoco Oil car ($6/16)
6257 Lionel caboose ($3/11)

Values in parentheses are from Greenberg's 2005 price guide (YMMV!).

I don't have info on what track or transformer (if any) came with the set. It was classified as an O-27 set. The 2328 had a horn and the 1033 transformer was the smallest transformer that had a whistle control in 1955, I'd guess that's the one.
