Nice photos, Chief! Gives me lots of ideas. I've already got the Plasticville coaling tower and the hobo shack (was wondering what to use it for). All I'd need to buy is that Lionel coaling station. Even thought up a great name. I'll call my coaling operation "Backus Coal".

I am going to be building one for my layout as well. I have looked around and can not find anything other than a kit made by K&P Brick and Building. They advertise in either CTT or OGR, can't recall which one, and I think they only advertise in one of them. I saw them at a show once and the kit looked like a million little parts and I said forget it. I can do this from pictures on the internet ( you have to check out www.undergroundminers.com if you want to see GREAT pics of coal mining buildings, mines, etc). Also, the K&P model kit was pretty expensive. I know that for my layout, the breaker is going to be custom fit to work in the space I have, and to allow me to integrate some Lionel coal loaders into it to actually load coal. So, I'd need ti custom made anyway. It is ironic that none of the major manufacturers make anything "off the shelf", but then again, as I mentioned, I'd need to make major adjustments to anything I could buy anyway.

John helped me acquire a Lionel coaling tower and there are Plasticville ones available. I plan on "kit bashing" some to make mine. Here are some good pictures of one done by a guy. He shared the pictures with me so I will have something to go by.

Hi Eddie ! I'm not sure where you can get breakers like that or if they are even made in our scale, but if you live near such buildings , maybe you can take pictures & try scratchbuilding them. I just sort of search the internet for pictures of structures that others have built & have made a couple that way. Of course mine don't usually turn out as well ! There are some coaling towers & other plastic structures made by Lionel & MTH & K-line you could use & even try kitbashing between parts. Let us know what you find ! If you need scratchbuilding supplies, I have a lot of sites with supplies & tools. Hope this helps ! John

Does anyone know where I can get some coal breaker buildings for my o gauge set-up? I'm from the Pennsylvania and am going to do my set-up based on the coal region in Schuylkill County, PA. Also, does anyone here have any experience in this area? Any help is greatly appreciated!
