Lionel also made a Norfolk and Southern full-scale SD-80. I believe that it was in 2004 Vol. 1, or sometime around then. It was right around the same time I bought my SD-80, and called Lionel trying to get a replacement shell hoping that they might have some in stock from the new run.

Chief, I thought the SD in that set is Lionmaster. I saw it at that train show I went to and it said Lionmaster.

I know you can't la***wo or more TMCC's with DCS [unless you cheat the system, give all the engiens the same engine number].

Forgot to mention that both of those engines are TMCC. Used & the MTH one has TMCC in it. I don't think they could be lashed up, otherwise.

Will TMCC and DCS lashup???? Colin, some say the Black Diamond is scale liek the two I have and some say they are not?????? Originally scale SD80's are 19 1/2 inches long [like my two] and Lionmaster is 17 1/2".

Well, if the SD80 you are talking about is from the Black Diamond Set (the engine is not scale sized, I am sure, I think it is a Lionmaster model) then there will be a difference, if the MTH loco is scale sized, or Premier. If they have a RAILKING model (I do not know if they do) then there should not be a difference. If you are talking about realism, do not worry about that, because they have plenty of different lashups with different loco in them.

That sounds like a good lash up ! I run an Atlas GE Conrail engine with an MTH Geep Conrail engine & note the differences, but that's just like the real RRs. They don't always have identicle engines lashed up together. Not even the same road names, either. You'll like it ! [:D]

Lionel SD-80 and MTH SD-50..

I have a Lionel SD-80 Norfolk Southern Engine and was thinking of getting MTH's non-powered Norfolk Southern SD50 to couple up together heal - toe. Would an anal engineer like myself be able to tell noticeable differences between the Lionel SD-80 and the MTH SD-50?
