old 145 gateman wiring help
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, January 5, 2006 3:31 PM
Hi-
How do you hook up the 145 gateman-50s version w/red roof and blue man with an insulated track section? I want to put a switch between thegateman and the track so he will not always activate to save some wear a tear.
Thanks
Tom

I have a newer 145 Gateman used with FasTrack. I made a sketch in the paint program that I could email to you if you send me your email address.

OK, roof off, looking down at the shanty, with the door at the "bottom" of the picture ... three clips ... one at the back of the shanty (top of picture), two at the front, near the door, at the bottom of the picture. Back one goes to the insulated rail. Right front to base post of transformer (the post connected to the outside rail); left front to hot post of transformer (fixed voltage post). If you have a Greenberg's Repair and Operating Manual, the diagram is on page 723, at least in my edition (in the pages on the OSS and OCS track sections). The on-off switch would go into the wire between the insulated rail and the back clip. BTW, the transformer here does not have to be the same transformer that powers the track; connect the base post to the outside rail.

Thanks a lot guys-sure appreciate it. I am a postwar rookie-I had MPC when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. I like postwar much better.
