John Deere HO Steam Locomotive Question
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 22, 2005 10:18 PM
Greetings!
I just found the site and its awesome! I have a couple questions and wonder if anybody knows the answers.

-1st- I have a chance to buy a 2001 HO Athearn Steam Lcomotive John Deere and was wondering if you guys thought it was a good price? It's marked 1/2 price. It was $170.00 and now its $83.00. It's brand New in the box.

-2nd- Does anybody know if this engine smokes?

Thanks Tye

Not to put you off, but you might do far better asking your question over on the "Model Railroader" magazine forum. That forum is populated primarily by HO and N scale enthusiasts. You may get a response or two here because some folks do model in more than one scale, but most on this forum are into O and S scale/gauge trains, along with a smattering of those of us who like Standard Gauge.

I'm just not familiar enough with Athearn HO products to give you a proper response in terms of price or features.

You might also be itnerested in knowing that MTH makes a lot of John Deere stuff in O gauge. If you're just starting out, and are drawn to John Deere items, you may want to check them out (www.railking.com).

honestly..if that's what I think it is..you'd be paying for the John Deere name, not the quality of the loco..but if you enjoy collecting J.D. nameplates, (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I can't afford it myself), it sounds like a decent purchase

by the way..welcome to the forum

Some one posted a site for all kinds of John Deer scale tractors & things, & wonder if anyone still has that site ?
Thanks, John
