Help w/#97 coal loader
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 22, 2005 11:34 AM
My 2 #97 coal loaders refuse to lower the bin when shut off. Some time the tipping of the car body onto the bin drops it but not always. I suspect these were to lower themslves when power was shut off????? How do I get this action corrected????????//

Hello heck (that sounds kinda weird) and welcome to the CTT forum!,

Yes the bin is supposed to lower. You need to check that the solenoid is not gummed up. If so, a shot of Radio Shack contact cleaner spray or some alchohol and a Q-tip can help. Also check fo any binding of the bin. Check all the linkages. Also inspect the pivot axle. You may wi***o use a little light oil on all the moving joints.

Oil the motor and drive mechanism while you are at it.

BTW - if it sits in one place like mine does all the time, pick it up and clean out all the loose coal underneath. This can impede the hopper.
