mth realtrax switch

Hello I would like to extend the lenght of track on my switch so that the engine operates the non deraling feature soon than normal. So far I have placed a pin in between the two rails of the insulated and the frog section of the switch and that works great. Is there another point that i can get continuity from the switch with out messing around with the internal parts of the switch it self? I just bought a mth starter set with has proto 2 sound system and I maybe using this forum to ask questions about it. Thank you Felix
