lionel icing station

has anyone ever repaired a lionel icing station. my problem is after it pushes the first piece of ice into the car, the guy does not go back far enough to pu***he rest of the ice. any suggestions appriciated.

If this is the modern CAN motored version of this accessory(no solenoid), then my experience has been that the sheet metal brackets under the deck can get bent out of position during shipment.

Believe it or not, it hac be fixed by bending them back so that you get the full range of motion. Once done and installed on your layout, you'll never again have to touch this accessory, and it will work every time.

If this is an original PW version, then I cannot recommend this proceedure.

Hello Boxcar,

If your icing station is The Postwar version, the conical spring that is on the solonoid is probably tired (stretched out, limp) This could cause the sugglish and reliable operation you described. This accessory operates on a very similar principle as the milk car does. One remedy for this is to either stretch out the spring, or replace it with a new spring.

Did you try lubricaing all sliding mechanisms and pivots, I would try that first.

If alls fails, I can take a look at it. Juts email me to scedule a repair.

thank you guys for your help. I tried bending the arm bracket some and it now works pretty good. Thanks again,
