Baltimore,
That is truly sad. On the occasions that I have been in the east during the holidays, I find it fascinating to attend the old firehouse train displays. I do not know of any firehouse displays in Ohio during the holidays.

The best display in the east is the TOYS for TOTS displays at Bethlehem, PA. WOW! [:D][:D][:D]

BTW, I have several family in and around Baltimore. My father grew up on Calvert Street, just south of North Avenue.

It's a real shame since they are really popular here in Maryland, has to be a monetary decision. The last few years it looked like it was entirely corporately sponsored and I guess the plug finally got pulled.
I posted this same article in a few other toy train boards and alot of the response was along the lines of "If they decide to close let them, these things take time and effort and blah, blah, blah..."
It's no wonder we seem to be having a hard time brining new blood into the hobby with attitudes like that among our own.
Am I wrong or is the Christmas train layout/ garden a thing of the past and we should let it go?
