There is an article on "Cleaning AF Diesels and Passenger Cars", Nov 1995. Use a soft brush and gentle presse along with a soft cloth. Baking soda (Arm And Hammer) and a wet Q Tip can be used on more difficult grime. Be careful not to rub oo hard. The article covers techniques to remove the shell from the frame.

American Flyer Chrome Passinger Cars
Posted by Tom1947 on Friday, December 16, 2005 2:08 PM
Does anyone have any idea as to what to use to clean and poli***he chrome plkastic passinger cars that American Flyer made in 53/54. I have a set that has about 95 percent of their chrome remaining. They have some black black spots in the chrome. When I purchased the cars in the late eightys the person that sold me the cars told me to polish or wax them with something. They have been in storage over the past 10 years. I have forgotten what he told me to use. I would like to clean and polished the cars. [?][?][?]
