Morning, I have 5 GG-1s from williams and they are great runners, cheaper than Lionel and handle O-31 curves.I use gargrave so i was able to cheat making my curves, they fall between 0-31 and 0-27 The horns sounds great and they run SmOOOth on the tracks.Williams makes a great product if your on a budget.I have bought them over the years from Marty at Ma and Pa Junction. Marty is a straight -up honest dealer at will spend time to talk to you on the phone if you have a question. Hes a great train lovin honest train nut like I am

William's pricing is all over the lot. The ad in CTT shows the GG1 for $149.95 The flyer I got in the mail yesterday says $249.95, but if you order between now and 12/20, its $187.46 (25% off). You can get it in a nice set for $399.95 which includes 4 freight cars and a caboose. That can be had for $299.96 if you order before 12/20.

I saw a Williams 671 Turbine running at a show in August. I wasn't all that impressed with the whistle it had, and when the whistle was sounding, the loco would either move faster or slower, I can't remember which. Great smoker though. And, even though I wasn't blown away by Williams sound, I'd buy one of their reproductions before buying a 50 year old Lionel original.

CTT had an article in either 2003 or 2004 concerning combinations of track to effect the radius you want. They suggested starting with two O-31 pieces add to that, two O-54 one to each side, then add two O-72 one to each side. This will create an oval that lets you run a little faster. Sounds like fun to try.

That is if each piece of track has a angle of 30 degrees. Or in better terms it takes 12 pieces of each type to make a circle.

Your trains will still derail if going too fast or top heavy. Maybe not as frequent, but they can do it and when they hit the floor.....................[:(][:(][:(]

Is the body metal or plastic? The K-line club special was metal for $100 a few years ago.

Joe, According to Williams, the minimum curve is 0 - 27.
This is the 14 " Classic GG - 1.

Thanks, guys. With all the specs. in the ad, this "minor" point was left out. Joe

I don't actually know what Williams might claim. But, if it truly is a reproduction of the postwar Lionels, as it seems to be intended to be, it might do O27.

I've always wanted one of these - too bad I've run out of money! The Williams deal should probably include the $25 to become a member of their Platinum Club to buy the GG1 at this great price. But you also get a free caboose or freight car!!

Williams GG - 1

The recent ad on the back of the January 2006 issue of
CTT, for Williams GG - 1, did not specify whether the product
had a horn. After calling around, I have found out that they
have the True Blast II horn, which is a nice one.
The price is $ 149.95, but there are several dealers, who
are selling them for $ 139.00. Due out by Feb. 1st, 2006.
Just thought I'd share this information with you folks.
