There were only a handful made...I want to say something like 12 or 16. As far as I know, they're all still in service on and off, although some of them have had some mechanical problems. CSX has repainted several of their to Dark Future, so it seems as though they plan on keeping them around for a few more years.

Not many. NS go them I think. Was an article on them in CTT when they reviewed the Lionel Conrail SD80. When I find it, I'll pass the info.

Working for BNSF on the west coast I haven't seen or heard of anything of Conrails EMD SD80MAC engines. I would like any info that I can get on them like: How many were made, how many are still in service, who got them, were they any good, was the V20 engine used for anything else and is there any use for it in the future, etc, etc! Any info would be great. Would love to hear from engineers who ran them.[8D]
