mth switch
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 6:38 AM
Hello I am new in the hobby using mth switch's and my question is the operating voltage with auxiliary power. They operate good with at least 16v coming from one leg of my lionel zw transformer. My question is this , Is that voltage too high for the bulb that is in the switch? I am operating a total of 10 switch's on this leg of this curcuit. I would like to send in some pictures of my layout but I must find out how I can do it. Felix

HI Felixg

The 16 volts should not be a problem.

Hi Felixg,

I have been using 16 volts on my MTH switches for 5 years and have yet to change a bulb. Having said that they will probably all go out next week! Seriously, I only operate the layout about 6 months out of the year, and of course not every day. Don't know what would happen with more continous operation.

Hello Thank you for your responses on the bulb question that I have posted. One other question I would like to ask and that is when my train enters a closed switch the switch opens and I notice that all my bulbs blink momenterly. I wonder if is a normal occurance? Felix
