Popular Mechanics

Hey all, Just got my CTT today- takes a long time to make it to SW Georgia. Anyway, I also got my January issue of Popular Mechanics and it has a nice article on "Super Trains" and discusses the rebirth of rail with faster, smarter, stronger trains- their words, not mine. Anyway, in these long winter months, some extra reading for us train buffs.

Dennis,

There was a group out of Tallahassee, Florida that had a large modular Lionel layout that they used to set up and display at different locations around South Georgia and the Florida panhandle. They would be especially active this time of year since we are getting close to Christmas. They called the layout the Gulf Coast Limited. It was built with several 4'x8' modules. I used to live in Valdosta but I've been gone from there since 1994. Do you know if this group is still active?

Thanks,

George

George,
Not sure about them, I have seen little activity in this area. We do have a train show sponsered by Flint River model RR club in January. I will check with them and also look on the net. It would be great to have some O guage in the area. My closest train store is about 2-3 hours away. Valdosta is a great town, we have been to Wild Adventures and plan to return soon. We are in Leesburg, next to Albany.
Regards,
Dennis
