Trainsounds problem
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 5, 2005 11:51 AM
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help. I got a Lionel Starter Set with Trainsounds about 2 years ago. Yesterday, it quick making any sound. It continues to run and smoke fine, just no smoke. Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be, and can I fix it myself or am I going to have to send it to a shop/Lionel? Thanks for your help! Bob

You might try to reset the board. Look at your instructions there should be a section at the end that tells you how to do it. I had an engine that this happened to and this solved the problem.

Check the polarity of the wiring to the lockon. The "hot" side should go to the center rail. Also, some of the units need to be attached with a lighted lockon or have a lighted car (like a caboose) to prevent eratic whistle/horn behavior.
