5x9 0 guage layout

Looking for a 5x9 0 guage track plan running 2 trains, with DCS. wondering will it be easier to run them on seperate loops, or on one continuos route?

Two separate loops would be easier, but personally, I would get tired of watching each go its own route with no possibility of interacting. Instead of two concentric loops, if you joined them by way of a 45 degree or 60 degree crossover piece to make it one larger track with an inner section, the excitement begins! I think I'd try to have at least one passing siding as well.

Thank you to Terry & Spankybird for your replies. Terry I agree running 2 seperate loops would be kind of dull,looking for a little more action.Spankybird, I like the layout you posted, what size curves are used ? Also what has to be done to run 2 trains at the same time ? Any chance you could give me a track count ?

Hi Rozy,

The layout is made of 027 track and switches. The outside loop has 054 dia. Track on the 4 corners. Several pieces I just cut to fit them as needed.

With DCS, it is all one block with 2 feeds to it. Nothing special at all.

Very nice layouts, Graz. You did a bang up job on your town buildings, coaling tower, and the cooling off pond.

The Christmas tree looks like it is 'anchored' to the layout. i.e. it grew out of the end of the layout.

@graz, your layout looks amazing. It seems a lot bigger in the first place then the 6x10 ft you said it is. Great work.

My layout (click web-icon below) is about 1.60 x 3.50 meters, which is about the 5x11 ft of the above size. In the "salt river canyon" page on the right side of the frontpage you'll find a track plan of it. I can run with 3 trains, but not at the same time. I opted for a non-standard layout, since running in circles, even if there are 2 loops gets boring after a while. I simply park the trains on a track and wait untill another track cleares to move on. Continuous operation is possible, but only one train at a time, since they have to use sections of track which are shared for the routes.

Cool - thanks! Looks like you can reverse train directions etc. I'm just figuring this stuff out, myself. I like the different "layers" of scenery the train passes through.
