TAS UCUB inst. article
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, November 11, 2005 9:45 PM
I'm looking any articles in Classic Toy Trains magazine on installing
TAS UCUB boards in AC pwered Lionel F3 diesels.
I have many back issues but don't know when these articles were
written.
Thanks in advance

[#welcome] to the CTT forum

Did you know that an index to the back issues of CTT are on the web?

Try it to see if you can find the article you desire:
http://www.trains.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/003/122iielf.asp

If not, an email to TAS might bring forth a pdf file with the instructions for installation.

Zephyr,

The article on putting a UCUB into a postwar Lionel locomotive was actually part of a review of the UCUB, a few years back. We put UCUBs into a postwar steamer (2056 maybe?) and an MTH PS1 doodlebug. I'm at home, so I don't have the indexes handy to find it for you. It was probably in 1999 or 2000.

The installation isn't hard, especially in a diesel since everything is in the shell (no tether to connect the motor to electronics in the tender). It will be a snug fit in a 2-motor F3, but it is a common installation so you shouldn't have a problem.

Thanks Neil, I'll dig through my back issues.
