Thanks to everyone for their replies, I was afraid I'd overfilled the smoke unit, but everything's fine. The MegaSteam is by far the best smoke fluid I've ever tried. My wife didn't hated the smell of all the other smoke fluids, but I picked up a couple of the better smelling ones. Vanilla, Cinammon Roll, and Christmas tree...the smoke smells like you're burning a really good candle so she loves it. Also the smoke does dissipate much quicker like steam would....and the volume and consitency is great. The fan driven smoke system on the mth is awesome compared to the old postwar lionels i've got.

I have only used the JT MegaSteam for over a year now. I do beleive it is the best on the market. The good thing about it is that it produces alot of smoke but it doesn't linger in the air.

I have tried the MTH Coal sented and my wife quickly informed me that if I plan on using it again, my trains would be looking for a new home. She didn't like the smell of it.

I will also add that nothing smokes like an MTH. It's smoke unit has two heating elemints and is fan driven.

What I'm calling "oil" is the smoke Fluid, in eccense it is a mineral based oil but in retrospect I will refer to it as fluid.

I got the MTH oil in coal scent. I'm hoping it will smell more like the real thing. I've not heard of the JT Megasteam, where can I find it and what does it run in cost?

I have used all three and I personnally prefer JT Megasteam. In addition to generating a lot of smoke, it disapates quickly and comes in scents such as cedar, bacon and eggs (for diner) and the one my wife can take Baking Bread. They also sell it in a larger bottle format. They and Lionel use "I" droppers and MTH uses a container that when I use I have a hard time keeping it only in the stack. I transfer the MTH smoke to a old bottle so i can use the dropper.

Which smoke oil produces the most? Is there one better then another? I have the Lionel smoke oil and I just bought the Proto Smoke oil for MTH to see if it is different. I'm wanting a more dense looking smoke instead of such a light hazy smoke. I have a Lionel Steam engine and an MTH Steam engine.

Capacity = 40 drops to prime the unit and 8 to 10 drops before your operating session.

Cleaning = I have never had to clean one of my units in the past 8 years. I have replaced wicks. See your owners manual for replacing the wicks.

Mage-Steam = It works very well in all my enignes. [;)]
