I agree with Paul. Certainly not meaning to brush you off, but if HO is what you want to go with, you'll find most modelers in that scale (as well as N scale) over on the "Model Railroader" magazine forum.

That said, I've had very good experience with Atlas, Kato, and Bachmann Spectrum lines.

[#welcome] You probably want to post this in the model railroad forum, just go up to the forum index above. Classic Toy Trains is primarily 3 rail O gauge, with a little Standard gauge and American Flyer S gauge. There are several good HO manufacturers in a variety of price ranges. A post in the model railroad forum will bring you a host of opinions. Athearn, Atlas, Kato, Accurail, Kadee, and Bowser are some good lines, but there are others..

hello all, and thanks for reading this post. i wanted to start model railroading with my son, just finished the room above the garage and i am now thinking about the next step. the question i had was, if i wanted to build a ho layout, is there a manufacturer of this scale of trains that i should lean towards?
