Curtis Turnouts
Posted by marxalot on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 10:46 PM
Don't mean to plug up the bandwidth here. I did try
a search on the topic Curtis and came up empty, so:

Could someone please tell me where I could check prices
and maybe order some Curtis turnouts? I have tried calling
their number a couple of times, sent an e-mail and had it
returned, and can't seem to find much anywhere I've used
like InterNet Trains and Walther's...............

Thanks,

Jim

This is Frank's website, but there isn't a lot there. There is a toll free number listed, but the site is kind of old.

Now I'm worried he may have hung it up. I hope not, he made great quality switches. He and Ross parted company about 14 years ago. Ross went with more of a high volume, high visibility strategy, while Curtis stuck to the slightly higher quality angle. Ross is certainly the better known name these days. I'll have to look in CTT, because he has had a small ad in there forever.

No ad in CTT, hasn't been for at least 3 years. I must be living in a time warp.

I talked with Frank last Summer. He was making turnouts but on a part-time basis. He had to take a "regular" job as he described it, in order to get health insurance coverage. Complicated heart surgery on his wife a few years ago caused eventual cancellation of his insurance at "Curtis Hi-Rail".

Call in the evening and you can reach Frank---he is still in business.
