Toy Trains
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 9:35 AM
Last year I purchased alot of train items from a lady whose husband had passed away and she needed the money. I know NOTHING about toy trains. I would like to sell some on ebay but don't know what to charge for them. She said the gray ones were more valuable. I have 5 New York Cenral #466, 9800, 8001, 4861 and 2912. I know the condition matters alot. There is only one that has flaking on the roof. The others are in good condition. I have several 1 1/2x6 3/4 box cars. Can anyone out there help me with these trains I sure would appreciate it. Thanks Much Bonnie

From your mention of the size of the boxcars, I'm guessing that you have HO scale, which means that you would be better off on the Model Railroader forum than here on the Classic Toy Trains forum, which is mostly concerned with larger trains. You can verify this by measuring between the wheel flanges, which should be 16.5 millimeters, or about 5/8 inch. Unfortunately, there is hardly any demand for HO from collectors.
