DCS to TMCC mapping - help!
Posted by 4kitties on Sunday, October 16, 2005 1:30 PM
Hi all,

I just bought the Lionel TMCC crane car and I'm trying to control it with DCS. However, I can't figure out how to mimic the AUX 1-1, AUX 1-2, through AUX 1-6 buttons on the DCS handheld. The softkeys only offer AUX 0, AUX 2, AUX 7, AUX 8, and AUX 9. The TMCC section in my DCS owner's manual isn't a lot of help. I have sporadically gotten most of the various features to work on the crane by using AUX 0 but I'm having a heck of a time making it repeatable, and some features like turning the rear lights on and off, and launching the outriggers, I can't get to work at all. Any suggestions short of buying a CAB-1?

Thanks for any help,

Joel

Feature DCS command

spin cab spin tumb wheel
front coupler cplr-f
rear coupler cplr-r
lower boom #2/brake
raise boom #2/boost
lower main hook (softkey) S2(AX2)/ brake
raise main hook (softkey) S2(AX2)/ boost
lower aux hook #3/brake
raise aux hook #3/boost
front lights on and off #5/key
rear lights on and off #6/key
launch out riggers drift

Any other number or soft key sends out the last command.

DCS appears to be unable to multi task the crane.

Everything works, I never would have figured this out on my own, thanks again!

BTW, for anyone else who has or is thinking about getting one of these cranes, I noticed that the outriggers don't deploy properly unless the track voltage is pretty high, 16 or better. That's a good reason to send the crane to your wreck site with a command-equipped locomotive.

Now I need to find a crane tender car.

The crane tenders shipped this week, A friend told me his was great matched up to the crane with the sounds.

If you don't know: don't turn the crane upside down with out the lines tied off or the will unwind in a second.

My out riggers pop at 18v.
