I wish one of the Major Networks had a show on Toy Trains as we've no cable or satallite T.V. Plus, a show like that would be better than 95% of the Garbage thats shown on T.V. these days.

Thanks for the heads up. I've heard about the series before, but I thought it was just a filler type show. Glad to hear DIY is still doing the series.

Take care,

Russell

Last Saturday's episode featured a huge public HO layout in Chatanooga. One of the operators said that the trains run so much that wheel flanges wear quickly and get razor sharp. The average train on that layout travels 3 real miles every day.

Another feature was on DCC. I couldn't believe how easy it looked to install. Even I could do it.

New DIY TV Series: Working on the (Model) Railroad

Many of you already know this, but to those who don't, the DIY network has a new show devoted soley to model railroading in all scales, including garden railroads. It airs each Saturday night at 8:30 pm and again at 11:30 pm (EST). Below is a description of the show from DIY's web site:

Workin' On the Railroad

Saturdays 8:30 p.m. ET

Model railroading is much more than a fun hobby; it's the passion for detail and accuracy in recreating the distinctive railroad experience. From track layout to train replicas, from digital switching to diorama displays, Workin On the Railroad captures the world of model railroading. Host Chris Chianelli visits many of the most elaborate model train displays across the country, talks with the people who created them and provides endless projects and tips for model railroad enthusiasts and beginners. All scales of model trains are covered from O to HO to G...and each episode includes a specific detailed project related to the layout that is featured, such as building trestles, designing towns and buildings, and constructing realistic trees and landscape elements. The series will also contain two focused, five part mini-series (available to air separately as Workshops): one on building your very first model train layout, and the other on building an exterior garden railroad.

Here's a link to the show's site, which has more info, including a detailed account of the next few week's episodes.

I watched the premier episode last week and thought it was great.

Enjoy the show.

Jim

PS - I'm going to keep bumping this to the top of the forum over the next few days so that everyone gets a a chance to see the posting.
