GREENBERG's Postwar service manuals ??

Does anybody out there have the 4 volume set of the service manuals that Greenberg reprinted in 1985 or so?

What do you think of them?

Are they complete?

Printing quality?

They're as good as you are going to get. I have the one through 1969. Some of the later 1950's operating cars have little more than probably just the Lionel instructions that came with them. But most basic things you'll want to fix are pretty well covered and I find mine indespensible. Well worth the cost if you plan on fixing things yourself - which is the one way this hobby becomes more affordable... by purchasing clinkers at bargain prices and them getting them to work like new.

It should be noted though that there are some parts out there that are very hard to find and sometimes you'll have to buy a second beater to strip for parts.

I purchased the single volume postwar book for $29.95. It covers pretty much everything I need. Its a great tool. Comes in handy when I can't fiure out where that one left over piece should have gone. [:D]

For $29.95 are you speaking of the book that has copies of the instruction sheets that came with the car/engine or of a book that has the sheets from the dealer's service manual?
There is a world of difference between them.
I'm concerned with the dealer's sheets.
