I hope Menard's puts Lionel on sale in Thanksgiving. Last year they had a (generic) steam-driven set for $149 and a very handsome Wisconsin Central (diesel) for $159.

I'd like to venture into standard gauge. A nice old Lionel looping around the living room at Christmas sounds good to me.

***, looks like some of you guys buy alot of stuff all year round. Thats great!

At begining of this year i picked up a Polar Express set after all the Christmas hype had ended.

And as it gets closer to Chrismas this year im looking to make my first larger investment into a higher end loco. Im thinking now that i may be going with an AtlasO GP60 in the Santa Fe paint scheme! :)

I'm waiting for the Lionel Super Chief aluminum, set (backed up to Nov. now, I see). This will be my Christmas present from the whole family. I haven't informed them of it yet, though!
Like Allan Miller, I'm cutting way back on purchases next year . I got a ton of stuff this year and my wife wants the kitchen remodeled next year. Fair is fair, after all!
I am getting the Great Northern GP-9 in the new Lionel catalog, however!

I would like an 027 GG-1. May have to "settle" for a Beep... or if natural gas prices are what I expect - maybe a magazine ;)

Lionel Santa Fe El Capitan set

Lionel Percy

Accessories: K-Line's lumber mill and gatesman appeal to me, as does MTH's gatesman.

Received my "North Pole Central" Docksider and matching work caboose from Nassau Hobbies today, so I guess that about wraps-up my O gauge Christmas shopping (for myself, at least) for this year. It's time to begin devoting more time to playing with these things and far less time buying them--especially in light of all the uncertainties looming in the future. I'll leave the big-buck purchases to some others this time around, and simply enjoy what I already have. I might still spring for a K-Line Porter, if I can find one in a roadname I want, and am successful in selling some of the "excess" trains that I have sitting around here.

I'm awaiting delivery of a Lionel Docksider (Christmas livery) and matching work caboose, and will next be buying one or two of the K-Line Porters. Beyond that, I need to take a good look at some additional accessories since there sure is some neat stuff out there these days.

I'm in HO (hope that still counts [:)] ) and Santa has a letter asking for a Lionel all-metal UP Challenger and a Broadway, QSI-equipped PRR K-4. Have an e-mail saying he'll see what he can do. [:D][:D][:D]
