What Jerry said can't be repeated enough times. Whistle motors often are the most neglected part of a train set, and show it. I would suggest that you first try adding a drop or two of oil to the wick at the end of the shaft while operating the whistle to see if things improve.

Good luck!

Hello Andre

Extra noise from the whistle motor usually means it needs a good cleaning/ and especially a lube.

Hi
I bought my first 6466wx tender, so my knowledgeabout this item is zero.
the motor look good and run ok, the free play beetwen the shaft and bushing is ok. My questionis the motor noise is normal? because I can hear two sounds
one like a diesel motor (electric motor) and the second the whistle.
Maybe something wrong in the motor?
thank in advance to everyone.
Andre.
