Here are the values shown in the 2005 Greenberg's price guide for items in good/excellent condition:

1. 2035- $70/175
2. 3472- $27/60
3. 3656- $28/70 (common version)
4. 6257- $3/11
5. 6456- $6/15 (maroon)
6. 6462- $5/15 (red)
7. 6465- $6/16
8. 2-042-switches - $16/38
9. 1033 - $29/46
10. 145 electric gateman - $25/41

"Good" condition - scratched, small dents, and dirty.
"Excellent" condition - minute scratches or nicks, nor dents or rust, exceptionally clean.

I agree with Pete that the original outfit probably was the 1469WS Lionel O-27 4-car freight. If the 6456 LV hopper is black, the set would have been from 1950; if maroon, 1951.

This was my FIRST train set!!! Its most likely a 1469WS set with added operating cattle and milk cars. I was given the 1469 by my parents and my grandparents added the 3656 cattle set. I sold it all around 1960 and of course later regretted it. About 5 years ago the nostalgia bug bit me and I recreated my original set and the rest, as they say, is history. I think there are many here (including myself) who would think 200 bucks is a steal if the condition is as good as you imply.

Or if you look to sell it in the 150-250 price range, let me know as I would be interested, I collect the 2035 style locomotive sets. 1950 was the first year for the 2035, has magnatraction, cars are the normal run of the mill freight cars, track doesnt really add any monatary value, if it were all boxed with the orignal set box, then you might get 500-600 for it. but without all the original boxes, its just a nice starter set, one to run and play with, not a collectable. Good Luck Mike T

It stil can be from 52 as there was usualy carry over inventory, espically of common sets like this one. Contact Charles P. Siegel, he owns Train City in Erie, PA. He buys and sells stricly pre and post war Lionel and American Flyer trains. Very honest and reliable buyer of trains. If you sell to another dealer, expect to get from 60-70% of what they would retail for in a shop or at a show. Or you can find someone that can list the set on ebay, wait about a month and a half before doing this one as train prices get better for the seller as Christmas gets closer. The set, while its a common one, has one of Lionel's best starter set locos in it, many nice cars, a transformer and a loop of track, everything a child or adult needs to get started in Lionel Trains. I am Charlies mechanic and handle all his repair work, if you need any technical questions answered or just more info, contact me at cadetpwr@hotmail.com. Thanks Mike T

everything you have listed is considered to be very common. Sunoco tank cars, milk care, cattle cars are all available in abundence. Boxes would make a very small difference in price. If these were yours as a yojngster, or have been in your family, I would recomend laying some track and runnin' the heck out of them. Kust scanning the list, off the top of my head, I believe you would be hard pressed to get $200.00 for the whole works, and that would be one item at a time on ebay. More trouble than it is worth.
