I don't know the values either. But it may help someone to know which variation of the 736 you have. See http://www.postwarlionel.com/cgi-bin/postwar?ITEM=736 for some description. I don't understand the number you gave: "736-36". As far as I know it is simply 736.

Is the transformer a KW?

The closest I can find is outfit 13048, "7-Unit Super-O Steam Freight from 1962. It consisted of the following:

736 Berkshire with 736W tender
6822 Night crew searchlight car
6414 Auto transport car
3362 Helium tank unloading car
6440 Twin piggback van transport car
6437 Lionel Lines caboose

If your set has the 6416 boat transport car instead of the 6414, it may have been an uncataloged (e.g., department store) outfit.

I have a price guide indicating a value of $800 for the 13048 outfit, IF the set is in excellent condition AND all packaging, including paperwork, is present. "Fairly good" condition and missing items would mean the set would be worth considerably less. Ultimately, the market (e.g., E-bay) determines the selling price, which may be more or less than the set's worth as a treasured boyhood memory.
