I'm sure just about everyone has a story about switches. I'll file Chief's experience away for future use. Thanks, Chief!

Thanks JAABAT. I have a Lionel 042 switch that caused arching when a lighted car passed over it slowly and one of my conventional engies would "trip" the E Unit. I found that the center powered rail portion was contacting the part of the outer frog and the angle of the center rail was wrong. I bent up the bottom part of the center rail and also raised the track a little on the approach to the switch. Cured it. Lionel is not too good at building their switches.
