The "screw" could be a rivet that didn't get spread. Why not take off the main rod and crosshead on the other side and see what's there?

Re-installing Un -threaded screw
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 14, 2005 12:10 PM
I have just run for the first time a Lionel Reading 4-6-2 (8004) circa 1989. Unfortunately, the connecting rod screw connected to the crosshead came off and I naturally thought it was screwed into the coupling that attaches to the siderod. There's no thread on the screw. Is it a press fit or does iot glue into the coupling hole? Help!
