anybody know of a smoke unit that i can buy and install into a lionel dash 8 loco or SD-60? if you guys could let me know thanks.

I would take it Adv.Beginner that your locos are more modern Lionel releases with additional electronics in them. Meaning they need more voltage to the track to run. Therefore you will need some kind of fan driven smoke unit with the correct operating voltage and heat dispersion so that you don't have melting of the loco shell.

Your best bet is to write directly to Lionel and ask them for a suggestion. You might be able to cob a K-Line or MTH made smoke unit into one of your locos. You may want to reword your question with that angle in mind, and also include the catalog numbers of the engines you want to do this to and what exact extra features they have included. And extra boards for Railsounds for example, take up space inside the loco shell and could make it hard to get the exact placement for the smoke unit.

Again, my first recommendation is to write the parts or technical department at Lionel, not the Talktous@Lionel address. My understanding is that this "Talktous" is just a paid contract call center kind of arrangement and the answer you get from them will be no better than the answer I'm giving you now.

thanks, the dash 8 is road number 8501 and 8502. the sd-60's number is 8029 both CNW. i didn't buy then i got them as a christmas present 2 years ago so they aren't that new. i really apreciate your advice
