You will get used to it and once you do the sounds the new trains make will sound sick.

Mine(2333) normally sounds like our old John Deere Corn Picker.

my 2344's are noisy - they growl like a sonofagun. The sound is powerful however, it's not like they are verging on falling apart - they are heavy, they have magnatraction na dlarge wheel surfaces contacting teh track.

I remember these being noisy when I was a kid, so I am thinking it is normal.

The horizontal motors, which came first, are noisier than the vertical. Whether yours is noisier than it should be, I can't say of course.

Hi
I bought my first postwar f3 2343.
after clean and oil and check everything I decide run it.
work fine but is very noisy.
Is it normal? the sound is like a real diesel motor.
