K Line UP Big Boy
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, July 31, 2005 4:14 PM
Hi Gang,
How about some ideas for cars to pull behind my new Big Boy. Already have coal trains ,and several passenger trains. Thinking about a beer train with a smoking caboose. Give me some ideas. What would you pull....

The more I think about it, how about a big long string of covered hoppers ?! A grain train, then you need a grain elevator ! Thanks, John

How about some nice wooden, outside braced cars?

Tom, if you're into beer cars, you might be interested in this (if there are still any to be had):

PETim,

If that is the 1/64 size Big Boy you refer, I find that the Lionel 027 8 1/2" cars go well with this size loco. Examples are the 6656 stock cars; 6014, 6024, 6044, 6050, 2454 box cars; 1002 gons; 6076 hopper cars; 6025 tank cars, etc. The good news is most of these cars can be had for $5-15 each.

Regards, Roy

After getting the engine I think the 10" cars look the best with it. I ordered some PFE cars and some UP boxcars that size from Western Depot today. The're the K Line cars with die cast trucks. Looking at the limited edition 'Survivor" Caboose. Thanks for the input guys. Tim
