I'm In CTT's Q&A...And I Didn't Even Send My Question In To Them
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 28, 2005 12:16 PM
I got the September issue of CTT in the mail yesterday. It's another winner and I've enjoyed the reading the articles on Mike Wolf and Lionel's F3's. I was looking through it this morning and turned to Questions and Answers on Page 33. I read the first question about somebody's gang car heating up and stopping after being run for a while and thought to myself, "Hey, that's the same problem I had a while ago." I then looked at the name below it and got the shock of my lifetime! "Mitchell Biley, Langenburg, Sask., Canada"? That's ME!

What makes this so surprising is that I never actually sent this question in to CTT Q&A. This was a question I asked here on the forums over a year ago. My gang car's running fine by now, but the information given is certainly useful for maitenance. I guess the staff at CTT saw my question on the forums and thought that it was a problem that a lot of people might have and so decided to publish it. Hopefully this will be useful to others with this problem. I must say that I'm still rather miffed about the whole thing, though.

Sack you must have asked a darn good question for CTT to use it in the magazine. A big Buckeye pat on the back!

Why would you be miffed? I would think you would be delighted. After all, it's kind of nice to know (or should be nice to know) that your question was worthy of such treatment.

Folks need to keep in mind that this is CTT's forum, and that your public posts here (because the forum is open to the public) are, or can be deemed, on occasion, to be suitable material for sharing with the magazine's readers--many of whom do not visit or participate on any on-line forum.

Once you "publish" your question or comment, it's pretty much fair game for anyone--and particularly for the site's owner. But I really do not think you should be miffed about it. Some folks spend years trying to get their names in print. You lucked out and didn't even have to work at it.

Hello Mitch! You should be happy, not miffed. Now other CTT readers have a resource for Gang Cars that overheat or do not run at all.

I actually am quite happy to see my name in CTT and to also be responsible for the feature question of this issue's Q&A! Perhaps I'm using the word "miffed" wrongly. I meant it to mean incredulous or very surprised or unbelieving. I certainly didn't mean to give the impression that I thought of it negatively.

When I read that in the magazine, I thought it sounded vaguely familiar! Congrats, Sask!

This same sort thing happened to me about 5 years ago in Model Railroader. It was neat! I always presume everything posted here can be used by Kalmbach

I hope I get published in one of the Kalmbach magazines. I don't think my questions are that important though...

I stand corrected. I always thought that miffed meant simply being taken aback by something, whether it be in a good or a bad way. Learn something new every day.
