O Gauge makes the day

Just to follow up - Day 2 was great. I was very busy, what with running my pike alone. The kids who came were ecstattic to see the trains and accesssories. They were fascinated by that #145 gateman - no wonder Lionel keeps making them! This was better than last year for a positive response to O Gauge. I must have referred thirty people to local shops this weekend.

I am doing a small trai ndisplay in Ocean Grove, NJ, at the Community Room. The N-track lcub has a malrge lodular pike, the family sponsoring the event has small "doorway size" HO, G and O27 pikes with an oval. I've got the 4' by 11' Tinplate World: three ovals of O27 and one trolley line. I am running classic stuff - Postwar and old Marx tinplate, mainly. CTT had areranged to send me copies of the Toy Train booklet and Worlds' Greatest hobby booklet to give out. Well, it was a busy day, and the impact of O27 on kids was as good as always. The kids' favorite was the Lionel 8303 pulling three Williams O27 "Blue Comet" streamliners and the Marx red commodore Vanderbilt - the "Blue Train" got more acclaim than anything else I had. though smaller in size, the Tinplate World gets more attention than anything else. And as far as spreadign the hobby, the Toy Train booklets are gone, and of the World's Greatest Hobby booklets ther are six left for tomorrow. Yep, I'll be there tomorrow, too from about 10:30 to 4:00 or so.

I want to thank the folks at CTT for providing the booklets - they took the initiative on gettign them to me a couple months back, so I'd have them in plenty of time. Between the bookelts and giving folks directions to a local shop that sells O trains, it all adds up to getting more folks introduced to the hobby.

Show ends tomorrow - Dec 15 - it's in the Community Room on Pilgrim's Pathway off Pitman, in Ocean Grove, NJ. Admission is free. I hope tomorrow is as good as today, because it's great top see the appeal of our O27 trains to young and old
