Sunday Photo Fun 7-10-05

Back in the days when Steam was King, water towers were needed for the Steam Engines. When water wasn’t available locally, the RR need to ship water to the towers via a water train.

Do you remember Petticoat Juction [?] Sometimes the local girls just have to cool off in the water

Good Morning,

Another very warm weekend in Iowa but that's OK, we know what happens in Jan/Feb. We travelled to Cedar Falls where our oldest son & wife live and one of the many great things about the town is that that's where Caboose Stop Hobby is located. Absolutely a wonderful store with owners that know what they are talking about and are very gracious. One cannot leave the store with empty hands, that would be rude, so the following is what we brought home.

Two new Atlas Reefers

Not train related but this was after two days of fun bike riding (for us) 50 miles and still able to smile! That's the Cedar River in the background, great trails in the area.

Jon, better be nice. You do not deserve that one [lady]. [;)] CSX30, I have been slowly collecting the cars and now I have the MTH engine [CN SD70] for the grain train. Now I will haul your grain. [:D]

EPA is after me as it smokes too much for a diesel. [Tom [;)]]

I see that there's a Christmas layout thread going on right now. However, since it's early July and his is done, I don't know if he meant a Christmas layout or a Christmas-themed layout.

I think it would be cool to have a Christmas Layout Sunday Fun thread some week. Only people with Christmastime layouts would share photos and stories.

Here's a night and day story of one of my Christmas layouts past: [;)]

cheese3: I set my Canon AE-1 SLR on a tri-pod and open up the shutter for 5 minutes. I close-down the aperature to F22. I used 100ASA film for this particular exposure.

Then I just run all of my trains all over with all the room lights out. This was the only year that I didn't have a Christmas tree on the layout. When I do and I shoot one of these, I"ll shoot one with the tree lights on for a minute to a minute and 1/2. I do play around with street lights and such - shutting them off after 2 or 3 minutes lest they overwhelm the picture.

Redhawk97: thanks. It's in my living room, sans all furniture. 14'x15'.
