Hi Jeff, in addition to the passenger car list I gave you, I found a list of freight cars, now. Couplers are called early hook, 1915- 1927 ( inverted T- shaped ). There's not too many, here they are, #800,801, 802,900,901,820,821,822, now here are some later made ones after 1924, 804,831. Looks like some in between have the other combination latch couplers. Now you could have a car with each type couple allowing you to run them together. They made 9 types of couplers in the Pewar period. Hope this helps, too. Keep us posted on your progress. Thanks, John

Hey John,

Thanks for your assistance. Yes, it is a Lionel 153 0-4-0 (based of the S-1 (prototype) locomotive). It is a dark gray. So, I am looking for cars that would duplicate Lionel sets from that era with that locomotive (for display and operating purposes).

Good catch on the couplers. You have to watch with Ives products, also. There are a couple of different couplers with the O stuff.

Hi Jeff, I have a TCA book, that covers 1900 to 1943 " 2nd. Edition TCA Lionel Book Committee ", & it says, on pg. 6, Steam type 0-4-0, same as 151but brass and nickel, catalogued in 1921 but never made. Is there an E after that # ? Anyway, being made or not made in 1921, the 600 cars were made from 1915 to 1925, examples are #'s, 600,601thru 604 & 610,611,612. There's so much in this book, I'll keep looking . Sometimes it shows complete sets, with all the #s of all the cars. Ok, let me know if this helps. Ok, now I think you have the 153 electric, made in 1924. Hope this helps, & you will need cars of that type coupler you have, also. John

What cars should I use?

Greetings,

I just recently received a Lionel 153 in Dark Green. I am attempting to find some cars that would be appropriate to run with it (I would like to duplicate a set if possible). What numbers should I look for? I'm looking for either passenger, or freight cars. Thanks for any help you can give me. [:)]
