Inexpensive Amtrak Coaches by MTH

If you like Amtrak, then you'll probably want to add to your trains with some realistic coaches. Even if you don't espcially like the Heritage cars as much as Superliners, you'll like this set. It's the Amtrak 4-car Passenger Set produced by Railking/MTH. It comes in the Phase IV scheme, which even today is pretty modern. The set includes 4 different cars: a baggage car, dome car, coach car and observation car. They are all have bright interior lighting. I was "forced" to buy this set because it is so inexpensive. Guess how chep it is? $199.99!

Look at the set here

You may also want to look at a full lengh dome car available for $49.95

Long live the BNSF .... AND its paint scheme. SchemerBob

Recently bought a MTH streamline B&O set on close-out ($149. for 4-pack plus $76. for 2-pack add-on). Am very pleased with them. The roofs pop-off after removing a few screws which make bulb-changing and adding people VERY easy. The exterior and interior detailing are great, especially considering the low price. Joe

Guys,

These are nice cars. I owned the Railking Amtrak set and the B&O streamliners set.

Be careful with them though, they have a plastic chassis/undercarriage, if dropped a few feet to the floor, the truck will break free of the plastic chassis, and you will need to order a new chassis to get the car running again.

I know this from personal experience.[;)]

Bought them off-the-shelf at JusTrains, but got the last ones. The 4-pk is #30-67146, 2-pk 147. The cars are 16 1/2" long x 3 1/2" high, a good size for my small 5x8 layout. Added about 100 MTH passengers, which I painted. Also detailed the tables in the dining car. Joe
