Lionel PS-4 Flat

Anybody else tried using the chains that came with this flat to help secure loads? The three that I have it seems as if the notches that Lionel put in the decking weren't deep enough to allow the hooks to go thru to the chasis. [:(!]
Any ideas on deepening the notches without butchering the decking?[sigh]

dougdagrump,

I used the chains that came with the cars. But, I drilled out the stake pockets with a small drill and made other style hook eyes to fasten the chain and very small extension springs.
