Jerry,
The second picture looks to me like a frame from a prewar engine with a scout motor mounted in it as a replacement.

The 2036 was made in 1950. It was the first to use the new boiler that went on the 2037 and the later 2026. (The 2-6-4 is not actually a "prairie", but an "Adriatic", for which there are no American prototypes.)

Factory misprints/prototypes?

I was browsing E-bay when I came across this "2036" prarie type loco. Could this be a factory misprint?? There was no such thing as a 2036!!! Only a 2037.

In the same auction they have a scout motor encased in a frame. It looks pretty developed, not crude.

So what do YOU think? Are these long-lost prototypes, misprints, homemades, etc?

Jerry
