DOD Train
Posted by spankybird on Friday, May 27, 2005 3:48 PM
This morning on the way to work I saw this DOD train just east of the Berea yards heading west.
Kind of funny to see this on the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend [;)]

I think that may be some National Gaurd train enroute to a two week summercamp, going ahead of its Unit. When I worked in Erie Pa. , they would load the train there, & my partner & I would have to measure all the cars & loads for the route. What a job that used to be. All day to load & then another day or so to measure. Thanks, John

Thanks for sharing these! Excellent pictures! It's not often that you see one of these trains. I once did see some military vehicles go through town on a CP frieght when I was a kid, though.

Tom, glad you did not get the FBI after you taking pictures of US Army on a train. [;)] Good shots.

This is something to keep in mind: railfanning is getting perilous, and using a camera on a military movement just might get you investigated. There has been decent coverage in the railfan press concerning new restrictions and considerations.

If you read this post they will track you down. You are in the database. They are already on the way to pick you up.

This is still a free country last I checked. Maybe I missed that post. Maybe one of the other Forum posters will hand me in still. Camp X-ray Cuba here I come. Maybe they have trains there.

If they really didn't want me to see it, they should have ship it at night and had the cars covered.
