IRONHORSE.
Sounds like lots o fun in your house. I think you'll love that C& O. I have that version Pacific in NYC without the odyssey (cruise control) and it works great. Good sound system. The only thing I would suggest is to get a few more of the terminal sections of track. You might have some voltage drop off with 40 feet of track. I like to use a terminal section or in 0-27 track a lockon about every 8 feet. I haven't seen a voltage drop since I have been doing this. GOOD LUCK and hope you and your grandson have lots o fun.

Might want to get a handcar to go with your setup. My sons now 6 and 9 years love putting the handcars on the track to chase after my trains. Kids love to touch and a handcar is cheap and fun for a kid. Just a suggestion. Good luck with your new trains!

I ordered the 38070 Chesapeake and Ohio 4-6-2 Pacific which is in the 2004 catalog. It is TMCC but does not have speed control. I also ordered about 40 feet of Fastrack and two remote switches, two uncouplers, TMCC command set, 180 watt powerhouse, six cars and a bridge. This is my first train since 45 years ago. Can't wait. Now I wait for the UPS truck to come. My five year old grandson is going to be thrilled when he comes to visit.

All things being equal, a 4-wheel leading truck is associated with higher speed and therefore with passenger operation. But there are numerous exceptions to this rule, both in normal operation and on an exceptional basis. In particular, a passenger locomotive that could handle the job might be relegated to freight or switching when more modern locomotives arrived, rather than being scrapped.

I have about ten of em and all work great. I have them in conventional and TMCC. The conventional ones I have are the LIONEL 6-18606 in NYC and it will pull 25 cars no problem. The TMCC does a great job they are LIONMASTERS and have the odyssey system. all a great pullers.

Good. I am getting ready to order a Lionel 4-6-2 and some freight cars and just wanted to be sure they were used together in real life.
