I'm pretty sure your Wabash Husdon is the same engine as a 2046. At least according to the picture I found.

By chance did you overlook the screw on the underside of the steamchest? Holding the engine upside down, there's a bracket for the front truck. In the center of that bracket is a hole, and underneath that hole is a screw that holds the steamchest to the boiler, and presumably clamps the frame in between the two castings as well.

If this is what you've got, be very careful when removing the steamchest so you don't damage any of the rod assembly. I know someone who got in a hurry and messed up his siderods on both sides. I still haven't fixed them properly [:D] If you have a digital camera, snapping a shot or two of each side probably wouldn't hurt either.

Hope this helps,

J White

I'll check it out. The instructions say the loco will run without the tender, but that was the first thing I thought of too. It has kind of a rinky dink connector, but only the sound units are in the tender.

It turns out that the link I posted above gets you only part-way there. Sorry about that.

I think your loco and tender are in Supplement 32. Check the bottom two entries on the page.

Your might try:

http://www.lionel.com/CustomerService/Findex.cfm

and check out the loco and tender at the bottom of the page. Is this your train?

Hope the link works. If you get lost, "Google" to Lionel.com, Customer Service, Parts List and Exploded Diagrams.

Maybe it will help some now; good for future reference anyway.

Wonder if you checked the tether wire to coal tender, and also I think most of the electronics are in the tender. A wire may have came off in there, & that may be easier to check first. Hope it is something easy. Thanks, John

I recently purchased a lionel waba***mcc hudson on ebay after wanting it for years. put it on the track and it ran perfectly in conventional mode. next day a friend came over and I went to show him the hudson, and ..... nothing. Dead. No noise, light, nothing. Checked track voltage, it was fine. Figured there might be a loose or broken wire. Anyway, I love taking things apart, but I took all the screws out that I can see and still the boiler won't come off the motor and chassis. It feels somewhat loose, but it's still attached in the front somehow and I don't want to force anything or resort to something I will regret. Short of buying a repair manual can someone tell me how to take the chassis out of this locomotive. It's #6-18046. [8D][:o)]
