Lionel Tradition Size Madison Pass & Newer Small Hudson? do they mix?

OK guys I have the premium starter set from 2000 with the command upgradeble smaller sized NYC Hudson. This is not the engine lionel has been using for the past 60 years. My question is - does this engine look ok with tradition size Lionel Madisons - not the Baby Madisons. I want to get a set of Williams FEC passengers to match my engine - can you mix them and will it look right and not out of proportion.

Well the original madisons were matched with a prewar 225 steamer. And after the war they were sold with the 726 before they matched them with the 773, so I'd say they'll look just fine.

Send pix when you put it into service!

I think they'd look just fine. I have a Railking J 4-8-4 I operate with a set of Williams 60ft Madison cars fitted with modified Kline diaphrams. It looks like they were made for each other.

They will be fine. The purpose of toy trains is to have fun. I mix mine up a lot. If you are stuck on proto types and absolute realism wonderful, have fun. If you want to have your old Lionel scout pull a string of scale cars, who cares? If you do care what someone does with their trains on their own layout you have some personal problems. I have a 2056 Lionel hudson from 1952. It is painted for the Milwaukee railroad. I have a K-line Hiawatha express box car right behind the tender and five of the 9000 series Milwaukee Madisons right behind. The express boxcar is scale and as far as I am concerned the proportion is not bad. Looks good to me!

I have a Williams scale brass K4 pulling a string of K-Line 13 1/2" streamliner cars. Sounds wrong, but works for me. Joe
