Lionel did announce TMCC 2 @ the O-Gauge friday forum meeting. It will be backwards compatable and will be well worth the wait. The only reason they didn't show it was due to a glitch in the prototype.

The Hotbox Box Car is a very obnoxious thing that I won't let near my pike. The goshawful squawking and ballyhoo will drive anybody up a tree. a couple of weeks ago it was being demonstrated at the Greenburg show hereabouts and it could be heard all over the hall. If you have little kids they will play it over and over....not that they would have any idea of what a "hotbox" might be or even care but it makes dicordant loud noise and literally belches smoke out the bottom while a light comes on. It really does look like a real fire under the car. But after a few sessions with that horrid noise you will be tempted to attack it with a hammer....and that's why the kids will love it....even more than a whistling train station Odd-d

I really liked Lionel's hotbox car. It comes with sound, smoke, and lights. As it rolls down the track the bearing sound gets get louder and louder as if there is metal-to-metal grinding; smoke pours forth from the area around one of the trucks, and lights fla***o simulate a fire. This is followed by chatter about how the train has a hotbox. It looked like lots of fun! I didn't check on the price or expected availability though.

QUOTE: If you are interested in what will be the new state of the art stuff for 3 railers, be sure and go to the QSI booth at york. It will be worth your time if you want to buy MTH proto one engines at super low prices and put in fantastic control.
That is all i can say now.
Dave authorized QSI dealer.

Can someone now elaborate on this for the benefit of us that have the PS-1stuff?
Cost?
Availability? Sources?
Installation tips?
Chuff rate selectable? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc?
Smoke output adjustable? Low, Med, High, or just On or Off?
Controllable from Cab-1?

I'd rather hear from someone who actually visited the York QSI booth rather than reading about it on their website...
Small Layouts are cool! Low post counts are even more cool! NO GRITS in my pot!!!

The Kline strreet system looks to me like it is going to be a big hit this year. Lots of people around looking and asking questions about it. The one thing I did notice and I don't know if it was by choice or what but the cars ran a one constant speed. Don't now if there were an adjustment on it or what?
The RMT Budd cars were like the Marx ones in size by all means not to scale if you are ascale builder then these won't look good on your layout.
BUCKEYE nothing was said about TMCC2. I guess we will have to wait?

Good laz... any other observations? How did the new products look and perform if you saw them running? For example, I think that K-Line street system could be a big hit with both folks with kids and more established modelers.

And even though the RMT Budd car looks to be (by the illustration on their web site) a clone of the MARX/K-Line one, how'd it look to you? Probably it was a production mock up, just guessing, since those aren't scheduled to be out til the fall.

We know there are lots of folks who are down on YORK. That's alright... not picking a bone with them. But lets hear some good things about what was on display.

Thanks.

LIONEL had all their new sets there. Acela train that retails for $2000.
KLine had their new street cars and rod systems there along with the Porter engine sets that were pretty neat.
MTH had their Football and baseball sets there that were neat.
RMT had their Beeps and Budd cars there.
It was just neat seeing all those things it took some time just to check out those booths.
