Guys:
I have a copy of "The Model Railroad Book" by Warren F. Morgan (Commander Warren F. Morgan) with a 1953 Copyright. It was published by Fawcett Books not Kalmbach.

Chapter 4 "The Hi-Rail Route" goes on to explain the origin of the term Hi-Rail.

Here's some other great early model railroading books no O-gauger's library should be without:

"The Complete Book of Model Railroading," by Louis H. Hertz
"Prize Model Railroad Layouts," by A.C. Kalmbach
" Model Railroad Track and Layouts," by A.C. Kalmbach

Hope this helps,
BillFromWayne

Maybe Kalmbach can do a cd version.....virtually no set up cost and they can copy as necessary.

That book is the holy grail of Hi-Rail literature. in fact, in it Cdr. Morgan describes how the term Hi-Rail originated. BUY IT!!! Note to Kalmbach, Publish a new edition.

The title is "Model Railroad Book". There are five copies available on Abebooks, from $8 (misnamed "Model Railroad Brook") to $75:

In the early 1950s, I used to check out a library book by Cdr. Warren Morgan on scenicking for O gauge trains. I don't remember the name of it, but he did a great job considering what was available. Has anyone remember or seen this book?
