Sask,
I just looked to see what that little train fetched - wow!

I happened upon that one when it was listed. Thought it might go for $4-500 dollars. Looks very fragile, the kind of thing that would have to go on a shelf. I really get a kick out of the old tinplate toy trains. And yes I dream of a layout someday with trains like that.

My favorite CTT article featured a layout with old toy trains. It was the May 2002 issue. It also had two outstanding toy submarines incorporated in the layout. Check it out if you can find it.

Thanks for sharing that link, Paul. That is a very nice set! I think it's made by Ernst Plank. These earliest of toy trains never cease to fascinate me. They have such charm and character. I really like the lithography on the passenger cars in that set. Seeing them always makes me wonder what their history was and how they ended up where they are today. Wouldn't it be great to have the funds to build an entire layout of trains like this?

Way cool. $12,00 and the reserve not met. Beautiful trains. Nice to see a whole collection being sold and not being broken up.

Here's one I've been tracking - very old - sort of the opposite spectrum from the Boucher trains. And even at this price out of my league.

As I'm posting this, there's 2 hours, 45 minutes left with the bidding up to $11,000 and the reserve still not met. Seeing any trains by Boucher on ebay is a rare occurence, let alone and entire collection! I'm afraid that my pockets aren't deep enough to buy it, but if I had that kind of money to spend, I would definetly purchase these train with it.

They're really quite charming toy trains. My personal favorite product made by Boucher is their Blue Comet set, which is one of the most gorgeous trains you've ever seen. Imagine what one of those would sell for on ebay!
